Brandon Lee Gopaul is a research and innovation specialist with expertise spanning agriculture, aquaculture, and water and sanitation policy. With a strong academic foundation, including a BSc in AgriScience and Aquaculture Technology (University of Mauritius) and advanced certifications in Project Management and UN Partnership Linkages. Brandon brings a unique blend of technical knowledge, research capability, and policy insight to the global development space.

Brandon has worked with leading international organisations across Africa, Europe, and Asia, consistently bridging research with practical implementation and policy impact. As a Research and Innovation Consultant at Future Fish (UK), he spearheaded international projects linking scientific research, regional development strategies, and sustainable aquaculture policy across Africa. Previously, as a Technical Consultant at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Japan), he evaluated aquaculture practices in the Western Indian Ocean, contributing to sustainable environmental strategies.

At the National Aquaculture Centre (UK), Brandon served as Technical Lead, advancing capacity building programmes and exploring synergies between aquaculture and offshore renewable energy. His role at WaterAid South Africa sharpened his communications and strategic reporting skills, particularly in advancing the SADC Water and Sanitation Strategy.

Brandon’s early engagement with the African Union as a youth volunteer marked his commitment to Africa’s development agenda, where he contributed to fisheries trade compliance research and policy support.
