Dr. dt ogilvie is a distinguished academic leader, strategist, and internationally recognized expert in urban entrepreneurship, economic development, and strategic decision-making. She is Dean Emeritus and Professor Emerita, having previously served as Dean of the Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she also founded the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (CUE).
Dr. ogilvie has held numerous senior academic and leadership roles, including Professor of Business Strategy and Urban Entrepreneurship at Rutgers Business School, where she founded the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (CUEED) and the Scholarship Training and Enrichment Program (STEP). She also served as Associate Provost of Information Technology Strategy and Chief Information Officer at Rutgers University–Newark.
Her global impact spans academia, government, and industry. She has advised public sector leaders, including serving as Senior Advisor on Economic Development and Urban Entrepreneurship to the Mayor of Rochester, where she launched the ROC City Biz FastTrac program to support emerging entrepreneurs. Internationally, she has held academic and advisory roles across China, Belgium, France, and beyond
Dr. ogilvie’s research focuses on strategic decision-making, creativity, entrepreneurship, and women’s leadership. Her work has been widely published in leading academic journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Leadership Quarterly, and Journal of Business Research. She is also co-author of The What, How, Where, Who and Why of the Creative Process (2022).
Before entering academia, Dr. ogilvie held leadership roles in the corporate sector, including strategic planning positions at The Southland Corporation and executive roles managing multimillion-dollar operations. She has also consulted for Fortune 50 companies, government agencies, and the U.S. Army on strategic decision-making and innovation.
A sought-after speaker and thought leader, Dr. ogilvie has delivered keynote addresses and seminars worldwide and has been featured in major media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Economist. She continues to advise organizations globally through her consulting firm, ogilvie & Associates LLC.
